COLLEGE DESCRIPTION:
Patrick Henry Community College (PHCC) is located in Martinsville, in the Southern part of the Commonwealth, serving the City of Martinsville, Henry County, Patrick County, and the southern portion of Franklin County.

SUPERLATIVES/RECENT ACCOLADES
  • PHCC is a Leader College in the Achieving the Dream: Community Colleges Count Initiative and one of the initial 15 community colleges in the nation to participate in the Developmental Education Initiative.

CURRENT INDUSTRY TRAINING PROGRAMS:
PHCC's Workforce Development Office provides job analysis, employee assessments, and pre-employment training for businesses. Workforce development professionals consult with employers and use innovative methods in the development of training and educational offerings that help employers gain a competitive advantage from the skills of their workforce. Staff can develop or target training for an organization's specific needs.

Examples of Customized Training: Leadership Foundations, Customer Service, Supervision, Business Writing and Communications, Computer Applications, Industry-Specific Skills

Apprentices receive on-the-job training combined with classroom-related instruction to ensure that the apprentice is fully trained in all areas of the occupation. Apprentices are awarded a journeyman certificate from the Commonwealth of Virginia after successful completion of the on-the-job training and related instruction.
